Heavy rainfall has caused the river to overflow, and parts of the Yangon-Myeik-Kawthaung Union Highway have been submerged, making it impassable for vehicles, it was learned. "The river water will not rise further. It is stable at 25 feet 10 inches. Rainfall will decrease. If the sea tide from Myeik recedes, the river water will fall back. Currently, schools are closed and roads are blocked," a local resident said. It was learned that a total of 17 schools, including those in Nyaungpin Gyi, Let Taung Yar, Ban Se, Aung Kin, East Moetone, Ta Pyo, Kyauk Mee Chaung, Hton Nwe, Mye Ma On, Myanmar Inn Saw, Kyein Chaung Wa, Zaw We, Kawt Kanh, Za Lon, Bodhi Kanh, and Tanintharyi city, have been closed. It was learned that approximately 2,000 people are being housed in 10 relief camps and are receiving assistance.
