Vietnam Clarifies Agencies for Confirming Martyr Information: Intersection of State Policy and Citizen Life

The Vietnamese government has clarified the agencies authorized to issue confirmation documents for the place of martyrdom of fallen soldiers. This provision is based on Article 144, Clause 1 of Government Decree No. 131/2021/NĐ-CP dated December 28, 2021, detailing and providing measures for the implementation of the Ordinance on Preferential Treatment for Meritorious Persons with the Revolution. The agencies with the authority to issue confirmation documents are as follows: - Agencies and units that the fallen soldier belonged to before martyrdom; - Provincial Military Command of the fallen soldier's native province; - Provincial Military Command of the province where the fallen soldier died; - Department of Social Policies under the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army. This decision is part of the state's policy, under the one-party system led by the Communist Party of Vietnam, to show consideration for the people, especially those who contributed to past revolutions and wars. This confirmation document is essential for the families of fallen soldiers to receive pensions and other preferential benefits.
