Indonesia Pushes for Stronger Tourism Cooperation with Malaysia, Thailand

Indonesia has strongly urged for strengthened cooperation in the tourism sector with Malaysia and Thailand. The Indonesian government plans to focus particularly on attracting tourists from Malaysia and Thailand. Beyond established attractions like the Borobudur Temple in Java and the beach resorts of Bali, the aim is to create untapped regions and new experiential tourism content. This effort is to be understood within the context of intra-ASEAN economic cooperation. Indonesia believes that fostering people-to-people exchanges through tourism, alongside expanding intra-regional trade and investment, is crucial for the region's sustained development.
