Cambodia Holds Youth Forum in Poipet, Emphasizing Countering Disinformation and Protecting National Sovereignty

On July 11, 2026, at the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) headquarters in Poipet province, Dr. Chun Theravath, a member of the CPP Central Committee and Deputy Chairman of the Central Youth Party, representing the high auspices of Prime Minister Hun Manet, Chairman of the CPP Central Youth Party, presided over a meeting and forum with approximately 1,300 CPP youth members from Poipet province. This forum is the third of its kind, continuing the experience from forums initiated even before Prime Minister Hun Manet assumed his current role, demonstrating the party's consistent high regard for youth affairs. The event was attended by Mr. Koy Ridha, a Central Committee member and Chairman of the CPP Committee for Poipet Province, along with deputy and standing committee members, and youth members from across the province. During the event, Dr. Chun Theravath conveyed greetings and well wishes from Prime Minister Hun Manet to all attendees. He also expressed his admiration and high appreciation for the achievements of Poipet province under the leadership of Mr. Koy Ridha, as well as the commitment of local youth actively participating in social activities and party work. The forum proceeded in a lively atmosphere, with numerous questions, opinions, and requests raised by the youth members. Key issues discussed included the resolution of the Cambodia-Thailand border issue, land registration services, improving the efficiency of online scam crackdowns, requests for solutions to rice prices, and the development of physical infrastructure such as roads, clean water, public lighting, and improved waste management services at the local level. Dr. Chun Theravath and Mr. Koy Ridha provided detailed explanations and clarifications on all questions, assuring timely resolution of citizens' requests. The leaders also emphasized that the government is striving to protect national territorial integrity based on international law and diplomatic principles. Both leaders highlighted several strategic tasks for youth in the digital era, urging them to be highly vigilant against the schemes of extremist opposition groups who use social media as a tool to attack, incite, and fabricate information against the government and the party, aiming to create chaos. In an era where true and false information are intertwined, youth must possess clear analytical and critical thinking skills. They stated that educational work on public awareness should be a continuous, "drip-by-drip" effort. The leaders encouraged the youth to continue trusting the government in protecting national sovereignty and to refrain from actions that could undermine the morale of frontline soldiers, as well as not to participate in spreading fabricated news created by opposition groups to divide national unity. Youth members who participated considered the forum extremely important for providing true information, knowledge, and practical experience. They expressed full support for the government's efforts under the leadership of Prime Minister Hun Manet and requested that the central youth party continue to organize such valuable discussion forums in other provinces to further strengthen the spirit of youth nationwide.
