Woman Missing After Car Swept Away by Floodwaters in Dong Nai

Search operations are underway in Binh Long ward, Dong Nai province, southern Vietnam, for a woman believed to have been swept away with her car by flash floods during heavy rains. Around 6 PM on September 22, heavy rain fell in the northern part of Dong Nai province (formerly Binh Phuoc province), intensifying the flow of water from upstream into residential areas of Binh Long ward. Residents witnessed a white 5-seater car being swept into a stream by the strong current while driving on Su Van Hanh street in the xa Cam area and reported it to the authorities. At the time of the flood, the stream was reportedly 3-4 meters deep and over 30 meters wide. The missing woman has been identified as a 46-year-old resident of An Loc ward. Her family has confirmed they have lost contact with her since yesterday afternoon. The Binh Long ward police, in coordination with rescue teams, military personnel, and civil defense forces, have deployed resources for the search operation in the affected area, but the woman has not yet been found. The heavy rainfall has also presented significant challenges to the rescue efforts. In recent days, a combination of the tropical convergence zone and a low-pressure system has caused widespread heavy rainfall across southern Vietnam, particularly in Dong Nai province, leading to flooding in many roads and residential areas. The forecast indicates that the rain is expected to continue until September 24.
