Vietnam Seeks Deeper Ties with Saudi Arabia, Prioritizing Middle East Partnership

Prime Minister Hung affirmed that Saudi Arabia is one of Vietnam’s most important partners in the Middle East. He expressed pleasure at the positive development of bilateral relations in recent years and voiced his wish to work with Saudi Arabia to further develop the bilateral relationship in a more effective and substantive manner, for the benefit of the two countries' people. Vietnam places importance on strengthening ties with Saudi Arabia, a nation with growing economic and geopolitical influence in the Middle East. This is seen as part of Vietnam's strategy to deepen cooperation with Middle Eastern countries as it seeks to secure resources and expand export markets. Saudi Arabia, in particular, is an attractive partner for Vietnam due to its significant potential in the energy sector and investment. As a socialist state with a one-party system, Vietnam prioritizes economic growth. Its strategy includes promoting friendly relations and cooperation with the international community, and strengthening ties with Saudi Arabia fits within this context. While maintaining a complex relationship with China, Vietnam is actively building relationships with diverse regions, including the Middle East, to diversify its economy. During his attendance at the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi, India, Prime Minister Hung also met with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali, reaffirming the importance of addressing global challenges and international cooperation. The current move to strengthen ties with Saudi Arabia can be seen as part of Vietnam's diplomatic efforts to enhance its presence on the international stage and accelerate economic development.
