Cambodia Joins World AI Cooperation Organisation as Founding Member

AKP Shanghai, July 18, 2026 -- Cambodia became one of the 29 founding members of the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organisations (WAICO), following the signing of the agreement establishing the new international organisation on July 16, 2026 in Shanghai, China. H.E. Dr. Chea Vandeth, Minister of Post and Telecommunications, singed the agreement on behalf of the Royal Government of Cambodia during a ceremony attended by Chinese Foreign Minister, H.E. Wang Yi, representatives of the Government of China, participating countries, and international organisations, including the United Nations. Headquartered in Shanghai, the organisation aims to promote the safe and fair, and responsible development of AI through international cooperation, extensive consultation, and shared benefits, while supporting AI applications that contribute to sustainable development and the well-being of people worldwide. Cambodia’s participation as a founding member reflects its continued commitment to advancing digital transformation and expanding international cooperation in emerging technologies.
