Thai PM says Myanmar should return to ASEAN as it was

Thai Prime Minister Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul said that Thailand wants Myanmar to return to ASEAN as it was. This was stated by the Thai Prime Minister at the bilateral meeting between the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and the Kingdom of Thailand, held at the Government House in Bangkok on August 6, in the morning (local time). The Thai Prime Minister said that both countries are good neighbors and good friends, and Thailand is a reliable country for Myanmar. He said that the two countries share a long border, and peace and development are interconnected, and there are many good opportunities for the two countries to continue to cooperate, so today's meeting was beneficial for both countries. Following this, Chairman of the State Administration Council, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, said that Myanmar and Thailand have had relations for many years, and they are inseparable neighboring countries, and the connections and relations between the people of both sides are very strong. The Chairman of the State Administration Council said that this is an important transitional period for both countries, as a new government has emerged in Thailand through the election results, and it is also a time when a new elected government has emerged in Myanmar. He said that Myanmar is returning to the path of democracy and moving towards a better future, and the new government is currently prioritizing the stability and peace of the country, and national reconciliation. In international relations, he said that friendly relations with neighboring and regional partner countries are being maintained, and efforts will be made to restore normal relations with ASEAN, the Chairman of the State Administration Council said.
