Tropical Storm Surigae Continues to Affect Cambodia, Forecast for Rain and Thunderstorms Across Regions

Tropical Storm Surigae continues to exert a strong influence on Cambodia, with forecasts predicting rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds across various regions. The Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology announced that the storm is impacting the southwest monsoon, affecting areas including the Bay of Bengal, Andaman Sea, South China Sea, Mekong River basin, Cambodian Sea, and the Kingdom of Cambodia. However, Cambodia itself is not directly in the path of Surigae. According to the weather forecast from September 26th to 28th, plains regions will experience temperatures ranging from a minimum of 25°C to a maximum of 33°C, with winds from the southwest and northwest blowing at an average speed of 3 meters per second. In 13 provinces, including Banteay Meanchey, Battambang, Poipet, Kampong Cham, and Phnom Penh, as well as the capital, 70% of the area is expected to receive rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds. Highland areas will have temperatures between 24°C and 31°C, with winds from the southwest and west blowing at an average speed of 5 meters per second. In 8 provinces such as Oudor Meanchey, Preah Vihear, Kratie, Stung Treng, Ratanakiri, and Mondulkiri, along with mountainous regions, 50% of the area is expected to receive rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds. Coastal areas will see temperatures from 25°C to 34°C, with winds from the southwest and southeast blowing at an average speed of 3 meters per second. In coastal provinces like Koh Kong, Sihanoukville, Kampot, and Kep, as well as the Bokor mountain range, 70% of the area is expected to receive rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds. Sea waves are predicted to range from 0.50 meters to 1.75 meters in height.
