Vietnam Aims to Establish Cultural Sovereignty in Digital Space

Vietnam's Communist Party recognizes the insufficient dissemination of domestic culture in the digital space as a significant challenge and is advancing initiatives to strengthen it. This stems from the observation by General Secretary and President To Lam, the top leader of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, that "the attractiveness and dissemination capacity of positive cultural values in the digital environment have not kept pace with the development speed of digital platforms and content." To address this challenge, the Vietnamese government is promoting the development of digital infrastructure and adopting a policy to expand access to culture. Specifically, through measures such as the promulgation of the "Decree on Digital Cultural Infrastructure," it aims to create new development spaces for the cultural industry in the digital environment. This can be seen as an attempt to broaden cultural touchpoints, from traditional cultural events to cultural experiences on digital platforms. Vietnam places importance on the development of the cultural industry in the digital age, aiming to establish its domestic cultural identity and sovereignty in cyberspace. This initiative seeks to widely disseminate Vietnamese culture both domestically and internationally, thereby enhancing its influence.
