Bangkok Police Rescue 3-Year-Old Boy From Abusive Stepfather
A three-year-old boy in Bangkok has been rescued from severe abuse by his stepfather. The child, found with serious injuries and infection, required immediate hospitalization. The stepfather, who has a history of drug addiction, was arrested, and the mother is being questioned for complicity. A citizen's report was crucial to the swift rescue.
In a harrowing case of child abuse, Thai authorities have rescued a three-year-old boy from the alleged cruelty of his stepfather in Bangkok. On August 6, police and rescue workers from the "Pen Nueng" Foundation raided a home in the Talat Bang Khen area following a concerned citizen's report of ongoing violence. Upon entering the three-story building, officers found the young child in a dire state, suffering from severe bruises on his head and body, and a deeply infected wound likely caused by a sharp object. The boy was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment. The 30-year-old stepfather, who has a history of drug addiction and was released from prison only eight months prior for a theft conviction, was taken into custody. The child had previously suffered a broken arm, with the mother reportedly attributing it to an accidental fall. He had briefly been placed with his grandmother for safety but was brought back to the Bangkok residence just two months ago, after which the abuse allegedly resumed. The mother is reported to have defended her husband and concealed the extent of the abuse. Initially, the stepfather provided a false account, claiming the child had accidentally injured himself while playing with a sharp blade. However, the boy's critical condition and the physical evidence at the scene led police to disregard his statement and proceed with his arrest. Under questioning, the mother eventually confessed that her husband was responsible for the child's injuries, and she is now being questioned for potential complicity. Both suspects are awaiting the official medical report from the hospital, which will be crucial for prosecutors in building a strong legal case. This incident underscores the critical need for community vigilance and prompt reporting of suspected child abuse, with a citizen's brave intervention ultimately saving the child's life.
