Kandal Province Governor Meets with Viettel (Metfone) to Discuss Internet Network Expansion
Kandal Provincial Governor Kouk Chamroeun met with representatives from telecommunications operator Metfone (Viettel) to discuss the expansion of high-speed and widespread internet networks within the province. The governor emphasized the importance of the internet and requested cooperation in combating cybercrime.
Kandal Provincial Governor Kouk Chamroeun held a meeting with representatives from Viettel (Cambodia) Co., Ltd. (Metfone/VTC) on the afternoon of July 14, 2026. The meeting was attended by a delegation led by Mr. Nguyen Van Leuy, Branch Manager of Metfone in Kandal Province. During the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Van Leuy, Branch Manager of Metfone in Kandal Province, stated that Metfone will cooperate with all levels of authorities, especially the Kandal Provincial Administration, to develop the internet network in Kandal Province to be widespread and fast. He also expressed gratitude to Mr. Kouk Chamroeun, Governor of Kandal Province, for the warm and friendly reception. In his remarks, Governor Kouk Chamroeun emphasized that the internet is an indispensable technology in today's world, and a country without an internet system is like a country that is isolated and not connected or communicating with other countries. He noted that if the internet is used correctly, it will bring positive results, but if used incorrectly, it will bring negative results. Specifically, he pointed out that criminals are currently using internet technology to commit various offenses, which requires all authorities and internet companies to cooperate closely to prevent and curb all crimes that utilize internet technology within the province. Furthermore, the Governor requested Metfone to cooperate with all levels of authorities, technical officials, especially the Kandal Provincial Department of Posts and Telecommunications, to jointly develop this technology sector to be more modern, thereby contributing to the further development of the economy and society in Kandal Province.
