AI Summary

Cambodia's Ministry of Commerce organized its first Supply Chain Forum to connect local producers with distributors and buyers, aiming to revitalize the domestic market and enhance trade linkages, fostering business opportunities.

The Ministry of Commerce organized here on Sept. 6 the 2026 Supply Chain Forum with the aim of strengthening direct linkages between local handicraft producers and micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) and distributors, potential buyers, supermarkets and digital commerce platforms. The forum brought together representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, relevant ministries and institutions, Cambodia Chamber of Commerce, business associations, companies, financial institutions, supermarkets, digital commerce platforms and other stakeholders across the supply chain. H.E. Mrs. Cham Nimul, Minister of Commerce, who presided over the opening ceremony of the 2026 Supply Chain Forum, described the event as the Ministry of Commerce’s first initiative of its kind and an important pilot step toward facilitating and promoting domestic market and trade linkages. She highlighted the importance of establishing direct connections among farmers, growers, producers, processors, MSMEs, distributors, buyers, investors, financiers, technology providers and logistics service providers to build a more efficient, resilient and sustainable supply chain. The Minister said Cambodia has significant potential in production, cultivation and the supply of raw materials for both domestic consumption and export. However, gaps in coordination among farmers, processors, producers, financiers, distributors and buyers remain a challenge that requires collective efforts to address. The one-day forum featured product and service exhibitions, business matchmaking, including G2B2B and B2B Speed Networking, business presentations, experience and case-study sharing on raw-material sourcing, and knowledge-sharing sessions on branding and product packaging. Participants also received information and consultations on key public services related to business, including business registration, trademark registration, certificates of origin, Cambodian Halal product certification and product registration. The forum also promoted domestic products under the #MadeInCambodia campaign, which has involved 741 supermarkets, malls, marts and mini-marts nationwide, as well as the #MadeByHer campaign supporting women entrepreneurs and efforts to promote and register Cambodian Halal products. H.E. Mrs. Cham Nimul encouraged participants to use the forum to seek business partners, exchange experiences and “turn discussions into concrete business opportunities.” She said positive results from the initiative would provide a basis for considering its expansion into a National Supply Chain Exhibition in the coming years, contributing to Cambodia’s goal of becoming a regional hub for trade connectivity.
