Indonesia Expedites Repairs at Quake-Damaged NTT Airports

Indonesia's Ministry of Transportation is expediting repair work on airport facilities in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) province that sustained significant damage from a recent earthquake. The focus is on restoring runways, control towers, and related infrastructure at Ende Airport and H. Hasan Aroeboesman Airport (Ende), with the aim of resuming operations as soon as possible. At Ende Airport, cracks on the runway and damage to the control tower have been identified. Both emergency repairs and full restoration work are being carried out concurrently. Similar efforts are underway at H. Hasan Aroeboesman Airport to ensure runway safety. These airports are vital infrastructure for logistics, tourism, and resident mobility within NTT province. Their swift restoration is directly linked to the revitalization of the regional economy. The Ministry of Transportation, in coordination with local authorities and relevant agencies, plans to expedite the repair process by promptly securing necessary materials and personnel, thereby preventing delays. It stated that the progress of the restoration work would be regularly monitored, ensuring that operations resume only after meeting safety standards.
