PM Urges Stronger Development in Kadane Subdistrict

Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone has urged for stronger efforts to accelerate socio-economic development and public administration in Kadane Subdistrict. The Prime Minister, who is also a National Assembly member for Constituency No. 15, met with local Party and government officials, security forces, and residents to review the subdistrict's situation. He commended local authorities for maintaining peace and stability while making progress in areas such as agricultural production, revenue collection, infrastructure development, electricity, education, healthcare, and tourism. However, he also stressed the importance of remaining vigilant against activities that could undermine social stability and called for strengthened political awareness and national unity. Furthermore, the Prime Minister instructed for tighter border security and intensified efforts to combat drug trafficking, social ills, illegal logging, deforestation, and illegal mining. This highlights the governance challenges within Laos' one-party system and the critical need for border management in its relations with neighboring countries, particularly China and Vietnam. Economically, he encouraged the expansion of commercial agriculture and livestock production in line with the government's self-reliance policy, continued poverty reduction, improved village development funds, better land management, and the promotion of tourism linked to One District, One Product (ODOP) initiatives. This can be interpreted as an effort to address structural economic challenges, particularly the need to reduce external dependency and enhance domestic production capacity. Regarding social services, he called for a reduction in school dropout rates, ensuring adequate teacher deployment, improving healthcare services and vaccination coverage, strengthening flood preparedness along the Mekong River, upgrading public information systems, and further enhancing government services through the One-Stop Service mechanism.
