Kha Lin and Wun Tho Road Sections Remain Under Control of Revolutionary Forces, Military Shifts to Defensive Stance

Military columns that attempted to advance into areas east of Kha Lin Township in Sagaing Region were forced to retreat due to the welcoming attacks of the People's Defence Forces, it has been learned. Sources said that the military columns entered the areas of Sinbu and Kyaukputhoe in eastern Kha Lin in the second week of July and were forced to retreat. Although there have been reports that the military has deployed troops along Wun Tho, Meza, and Indaw, in reality, the Kha Lin-Wun Tho road section and the Kha Lin-Pelbu areas are still fully controlled by the People's Defence Forces, and the military has only been able to control some communication routes in parts of Indaw and Thabeikkyin, according to military sources. “All areas in the western part of Thabeikkyin and the eastern part of Kha Lin are areas of control for the People's Defence Forces,” stated Major Zin Yaw, a CDM officer, to the Irrawaddy Times. The military columns that reached Meza and Nanthay have now shifted to a defensive posture, and the possibility of capturing Pelbu town has diminished. Therefore, it is understood that they are prioritizing full control of the territories they have secured over launching offensives within Sagaing Region. There have been some clashes between the military columns of the State Administration Council and the People's Defence Forces that have reached Indaw, Nabhar, and Mohnyin, with the military defending itself using heavy artillery, drones, and air support.
