July 13 Mizzima. The military junta carried out a total of 520 airstrikes between April and June of this year, resulting in the deaths of 314 people, according to the Myanmar Internet Project (MIP). According to MIP's "Report on Communication Disruptions and Damages in Airstrike-Affected Areas from April to June 2026," over 95 percent of the total deaths occurred in areas where internet and communication were cut off. Among the deceased were at least 58 women, 41 children, and 15 elderly individuals. Of the incidents, 510 airstrikes (98.08 percent) occurred in areas suffering from internet disruptions. Approximately 62 percent of all incidents occurred in three regions where military clashes with the junta are intense. Chin State saw the highest number of airstrikes with 122, followed by Sagaing Region with 101, and Rakhine State with 98. The report stated that 22 religious buildings, seven hospitals and clinics, 17 schools, five displacement camps, and one bridge were damaged due to the attacks. MIP stated that the junta forces are excessively using air power in their military offensives to regain territorial control. According to the report, 87 townships in 13 regions and states, excluding Yangon Region, experienced airstrikes between April and June of this year. Sagaing Region saw 20 townships subjected to airstrikes, followed by 12 townships in Rakhine State and nine townships in Magway Region where the junta carried out airstrikes. The Myanmar Internet Project stated that civilians living in areas facing communication difficulties are at the highest risk of injury and death because they cannot receive timely information and warnings about airstrikes. The data in the report was collected and compiled daily through local news and independent media outlets.
