Vietnam Signs National Cooperation Programs with UN Agencies for 2027-2030, Valued Over $221 Million

Vietnam has received three new documents for National Cooperation Programs with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) for the period 2027-2030. These programs will involve a total funding of approximately $221.2 million, aimed at strengthening Vietnam's efforts to achieve its sustainable development goals. Specifically, UNDP will provide about $115.5 million, UNICEF $85 million, and UNFPA $20.7 million. This cooperation aligns with Vietnam's socio-economic development plans, seeking to enhance outcomes in areas such as poverty reduction, improvement of education and health services, environmental protection, and gender equality. Under its one-party system, Vietnam promotes a socialist-oriented market economy, focusing on economic growth alongside achieving development goals and improving the quality of life for its citizens. Cooperation with UN agencies plays a crucial role in deepening international engagement and adopting advanced knowledge and technologies. The reception of these cooperation documents signifies Vietnam's commitment to international partnerships and its continued efforts in addressing development challenges. Especially amidst evolving relations with China, maintaining and strengthening frameworks for multilateral cooperation, such as with the UN and Western nations, is considered strategically important for Vietnam's foreign policy.
