Bangkok Eatery Fire Claims 27 Lives, Decorations and Smoke Suspected in Fatalities

He quoted musicians at the eatery as saying that the fire started at a circuit breaker of a stage in the restaurant, followed by a blackout and an explosion sound. Bangkok Governor Chadchart said that flames spread fast on decorations on the ceiling of the eatery and toxic smoke from the burning decorative materials harmed victims. He suggested that the materials used for decoration might have been highly flammable and released toxic fumes. Suriyachai Rawiwan, disaster prevention and mitigation director of Bangkok, said there were fire exits at the rear of the eatery and victims apparently rushed to toilets at the back of the place where it was difficult for rescuers to reach them.
