Metro Jaya Police Bust Major Drug Network in East Jakarta, Seize Nearly 28kg of Marijuana

The Narcotics Investigation Directorate of the Metro Jaya Police has dismantled a major drug distribution network in the East Jakarta area, confiscating approximately 27.96 kilograms of marijuana and 2.69 grams of methamphetamine from a rented house. The operation stemmed from a public tip. AKBP Triyatno Pamungkas, Deputy Head of Sub-Directorate 2 of the Narcotics Division, stated that the bust occurred on Wednesday (22/7), leading to the arrest of three suspects identified by the initials D.H.P. (35), F.R. (32), and Y.P. (37) in four different locations within the Jatinegara District of East Jakarta. The investigation began with information regarding alleged narcotics transactions and package collections in the Jatinegara area. The initial suspect apprehended was D.H.P., found in a house in the Cipinang Muara area. Based on D.H.P.'s confession, police expanded their search to a rented house in the Cipinang area, where F.R. was arrested along with the large quantity of marijuana. Officers seized 24 packages of marijuana weighing a gross 24.877 kilograms stored in a green basket, and three additional packages totaling 3.079 kilograms in a cardboard box, bringing the total marijuana seizure to nearly 28 kilograms. Alongside the marijuana, several small packets of crystal methamphetamine, totaling 2.69 grams, and mobile phones believed to be used for transactions were also confiscated. Intensive questioning revealed that the prohibited goods primarily belonged to suspect Y.P. Police swiftly apprehended Y.P. at a separate location. Triyatno emphasized the police's commitment to eradicating the illicit circulation of narcotics within the jurisdiction of DKI Jakarta and its surrounding areas. The three suspects and all seized evidence have been transported to the Metro Jaya Police Headquarters for further investigation and development of the case.
