Artillery shelling continues from 7 military strongholds, armored vehicles, and warships in Sittwe to surrounding townships

AYEYARWADDY TIMES September 4 The Arakan Army (ULA/AA) announced on September 4 that artillery shelling continues from at least seven military strongholds in Sittwe city, Rakhine State, two armored vehicles, and warships at sea, targeting villages in Ponnagyun, Sittwe, and Rathedaung townships. Artillery shelling from military bases in Sittwe city to nearby villages began around 10 AM today, September 4, and further shelling was carried out towards Gwa and Ngapali Beach around 12 PM. In addition, on the morning of September 3, naval warships shelled along Kyauktaw, Pwint Phyu, and Gwa beaches in Gwa Township, Thandwe District, with heavy artillery. The interim government's military conducted bombing raids for about 30 minutes with four jet fighter aircraft on villages such as Kwantaung, Kontangyi, Makalakyee, Nyoyaung, Minla, Moezaykain, Nyaungpingyi Muslim village, and Rakhine village in Sittwe, Ponnagyun, and Rathedaung townships around 1:35 AM on September 3. The military has been conducting indiscriminate attacks with artillery, air, and naval forces, targeting innocent civilians, pagodas, schools, and religious buildings, not only in August but also in the early part of September. Therefore, the ULA has further notified and urged the public in various towns and villages to pay special attention at all times to the dangers of military air, naval, and artillery shelling, to carefully monitor aerial signals, to warn each other, and to live with great caution in safe places.
