Cambodia Hosts International Conference to Strengthen Cooperation Against Cyber Fraud

Cambodia is stepping up its efforts to combat the rising tide of cyber fraud globally by strengthening international cooperation. At the "Jointly Towards Severing the Chain and Ending Cyber Fraud" international conference held in Phnom Penh on September 23, 2026, Cambodia emphasized the importance of partnerships in tackling cybercrime. Dr. Sai Sinarith, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister and Chairman of the Secretariat of the National Committee for Combating Cyber Fraud, stated that cyber fraud is a transnational crime and international cooperation is essential for its eradication. He affirmed Cambodia's readiness to forge full cooperation as a partner with all countries and institutions, based on the principles of mutual respect, national laws, and sovereignty. As the host nation, Dr. Sinarith expressed hope that the conference would foster a shared understanding and lead to the adoption of a joint declaration that outlines a commitment to combating cyber fraud. This declaration is expected to provide a framework for enhancing international cooperation, information sharing, capacity building, law enforcement, victim protection, and coordinated responses to cyber fraud crimes. The international conference was initiated by the Cambodian government under the high leadership of Prime Minister Hun Manet. With the support of partner international organizations, the event aims to demonstrate the government's political will and the results of its relentless campaign against cyber fraud, while also showcasing its openness to international collaboration.
