General Secretary Trong, President To Lam Visits Russia, Meets President Putin

General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President To Lam attended a welcoming ceremony hosted by Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin in Moscow on the afternoon of September 9, as part of his state visit to Russia. President Putin warmly welcomed General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife in the St. George Hall, shaking hands and exchanging greetings. The national anthems of Vietnam and Russia were subsequently played. Following the ceremony, President Putin and General Secretary and President To Lam held talks, witnessed the signing of cooperation documents, and addressed the press. Vietnam and Russia share a traditional friendship, nurtured by generations of leaders and peoples from both countries for over 75 years. Political relations between the two nations are characterized by high mutual trust, with close coordination in multilateral forums and international organizations. Regular high-level exchanges provide strong momentum for the development of the comprehensive strategic partnership. Cultural exchange activities are frequently organized, contributing to enhanced understanding and friendship between the Vietnamese and Russian people. Cooperation in science and technology continues to be maintained, poised to become a new pillar of the comprehensive strategic partnership. The Vietnamese community in Russia has also made significant contributions to the development of both nations and bilateral relations. This state visit by General Secretary and President To Lam reaffirms the consistency, inheritance, and high regard that the Communist Party and the State of Vietnam place on the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia. It also exemplifies Vietnam's foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation, and development, while pursuing multipolar and diversified foreign relations. The visit aims to secure appropriate resources in areas such as energy, science-technology, human resource training, and infrastructure development, thereby implementing the Politburo's resolutions to serve the country's rapid and sustainable development. The event also serves as an opportunity for the top leaders of both countries to engage in in-depth discussions on strategic issues, establish a long-term vision, and create new political impetus to comprehensively elevate Vietnam-Russia relations, aligning bilateral cooperation with each nation's development goals in the new era.
