French National Shot After Stabbing Bangkok Police Officer

BANGKOK – A violent confrontation erupted in Bangkok on July 24 when an aggressive 34-year-old French national attacked residents and a police officer. The chaotic incident occurred in front of a condominium in Soi Pattanakarn 54, located within the Suan Luang district. Officers from the Khlong Tan Police Station quickly responded to emergency calls regarding a man smashing shop windows. When officers arrived at the scene, the situation escalated rapidly into a dangerous physical altercation with the armed suspect. According to a news report by Thairath News, the violent spree began in the late afternoon around 4:30 PM. Eyewitnesses reported seeing a tall male foreign national wearing a dark shirt causing widespread property damage. He reportedly smashed glass storefronts and chased terrified bystanders while wielding a sharp cutting weapon. The suspect was identified as Mr. Ba Adam, 34. Police Colonel Phisit Miviriyakul, chief of the Khlong Tan station, immediately dispatched patrol units to the scene. Rescue workers from the Erawan Medical Center and volunteers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation also rushed to assist. Upon arrival, emergency personnel found bloodstains scattered across the sidewalk along with shattered glass from stores. Police Senior Sergeant Major Jarut Yaemsuan attempted to intercept the agitated suspect to protect nearby citizens. However, the suspect resisted violently and stabbed Officer Jarut during the physical struggle on the sidewalk. Despite his serious injuries, the officer managed to draw his service weapon to stop the attack. Officer Jarut fired his weapon in self-defense, striking the aggressive foreign national three times in total. The gunfire subdued the attacker, allowing remaining officers and brave local bystanders to safely detain him. Medical teams quickly provided emergency first aid before transporting both injured individuals to the hospital. The suspect suffered one gunshot wound to his abdomen and two gunshot wounds to his thigh. Both Officer Jarut and the unidentified suspect were admitted to the Police General Hospital for treatment. Hospital medical staff confirmed that both men are currently receiving medical treatment for their injuries. Investigators at the Khlong Tan Police Station are actively examining the background of the incident. Authorities are working diligently to verify the identity and national origin of the foreign offender. Police officials plan to interrogate the suspect once medical professionals clear him for legal questioning.
