Cambodia Welcomes US Investors Amidst Growing Trade Ties

Cambodian Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed his hope that more American investors will do business in Cambodia, noting the current increase in trade volume between the two countries. This sentiment was conveyed during a meeting with Mr. Brian D. McFeeters, President and CEO of the US-ASEAN Business Council, and a delegation of American companies on the morning of July 21, 2026, at the Senate's Vimean Samakphear (Palace of Peace). During the meeting, Samdech Techo Hun Sen welcomed Mr. McFeeters and the American business delegation to Cambodia. He mentioned that he has frequently met with the US-ASEAN Business Council since his tenure as Prime Minister to discuss economic, trade, and investment matters concerning American businesses in Cambodia. Mr. Brian D. McFeeters expressed his gratitude to Samdech Techo for granting the audience. He stated that the US-ASEAN Business Council comprises over 180 member companies, many of which are keenly interested in investing in ASEAN countries, particularly Cambodia. He further noted that Cambodia-US relations are currently progressing well, and as representatives of the private sector, the council wishes to contribute to further strengthening these bilateral ties. He added that American businesspeople and their partners present at the meeting are seeking opportunities to invest and expand their investments in Cambodia. Major companies present included Ford, SC Johnson, and Coca-Cola, among other partners. Samdech Techo expressed his satisfaction with Mr. McFeeters' remarks on the improving Cambodia-US relations. He affirmed his support for American investors in Cambodia, emphasizing that the core of the bilateral relationship lies in economics, trade, and investment. Samdech Techo hopes for increased business activities by American investors in Cambodia and observed that most American investments are concentrated in the transportation, medical, education, and technology sectors, areas that Cambodia desires for fostering innovation.
