Cambodian Garment Factory Workers Return to Work After Dispute Resolution

Workers at the Railying Garment Factory in Samrong village, Samrong commune, Samrong district, Kampong Speu province, have returned to their respective duties on September 2, 2026, following the achievement of a consensus on 18 points between the workers and the employer. This resolution was reached after leaders and technical officials from the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, in collaboration with local authorities, directly facilitated discussions and listened to the concerns of both parties. Mr. Sun Mesa, spokesperson for the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training, stated that the ministry's primary objective is to enable both parties to find common ground and resolve issues peacefully, in accordance with legal provisions and respecting the legal rights and interests of all parties. He further clarified, "What is important is that we listened to the concerns of the workers and the explanations from the employer, and we helped both parties discuss based on the law, which ultimately led to their agreement on a solution and the workers' return to work." The Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training considers this agreement a positive outcome that helps preserve both the rights and interests of the workers, as well as the continuity of the company's production activities and employment. Concurrently, the ministry has appealed to both parties to continue respecting and implementing the spirit of the agreement, to strengthen dialogue, and to cooperate in resolving any issues that may arise through legal mechanisms to maintain a harmonious working environment and mutual benefits.
