Vietnam and Japan to Strengthen Cooperation in Economic Security and Advanced Technologies

Vietnam and Japan have agreed to work closely to realize the agreements reached during Prime Minister Takaichi’s visit to Vietnam in May, including bolstering economic connectivity and economic security, sci-tech collaboration, and pushing concrete joint projects in digital transformation, green transition, innovation, semiconductors, and artificial intelligence. Despite increasingly complex regional and global environments, Vietnam continues to regard Japan as a key partner and remains committed to deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership, Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung. Japan is aware that no country can single-handedly manage the entire semiconductor supply chain, so cooperation with partners like the US, Europe, and Asian countries including Vietnam forms a crucial part of Japan's strategy, said Assoc. Prof. Dr Le Duc Anh of the University of Tokyo. In his remarks, Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung described ASEAN–China as one of ASEAN’s most dynamic and comprehensive partnerships, stressing the importance of effectively implementing the 2026–2030 Plan of Action to enhance the quality and strategic value of bilateral cooperation. Vietnam stands ready to share expertise in crop varieties, cultivation techniques, irrigation, agricultural mechanisation, post-harvest preservation and the development of agricultural value chains.
