Vietnam Affirms US as Top Partner, Eyes Enhanced Relations

On July 13, at the Government Headquarters, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Vietnam, Jennifer Wicks, who paid a courtesy call on the occasion of her beginning her term in Vietnam. Prime Minister Hung emphasized that Vietnam consistently considers the United States as one of its most important partners and highly appreciated the development of bilateral relations. He also expressed gratitude for the US's support for Vietnam's independence, sovereignty, and prosperity. During the meeting, opinions were exchanged on common matters of interest for further deepening the strategic partnership between the two countries. Discussions specifically focused on strengthening economic cooperation, collaboration in the security sector, and contributing to peace and stability in the region and the international community. Prime Minister Hung requested continued US support for promoting trade and investment in Vietnam, technology transfer, and human resource development. Ambassador Wicks expressed her enthusiasm for her new mission in Vietnam and stated her desire to contribute to the further development of bilateral relations. She conveyed that the US recognizes the importance of Vietnam's economic growth and regional stability and intends to continue strengthening the partnership. The Ambassador particularly looked forward to deepening cooperation in areas such as the economy, security, and climate change response. This meeting demonstrates Vietnam's strategic approach to managing relations with major powers as it aims for economic growth and enhanced international standing.
