Khanh Hoa Tightens Control, Strictly Punishes IUU Violations

Khanh Hoa province, located in the South Central region of Vietnam, is resolutely advancing its fight against Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated (IUU) fishing. With its vast fishing grounds, fishermen set out to sea with expectations of bountiful catches, while simultaneously bearing the significant responsibility of legal compliance. Khanh Hoa province is determined to establish a sustainable and modern fishery sector through strict enforcement and punishment against IUU fishing. This initiative marks a crucial step towards the removal of the 'yellow card' issued by the European Union (EU) against Vietnamese seafood. The EU has called for corrective measures from countries implicated in IUU fishing, citing its threat to the sustainability of global marine resources. The Vietnamese government is earnestly addressing these recommendations and striving to strengthen its domestic fisheries management system. The recent actions by Khanh Hoa province exemplify this effort. To overcome past recommendations and achieve the early lifting of the EU's 'yellow card,' Khanh Hoa province will enhance its monitoring of fishing activities and strictly enforce penalties for violations.
