Vietnam Considers Tax Incentives for Education Sector

The National Assembly Standing Committee of Vietnam has scrutinized a proposal to introduce tax incentives for the education sector. The proposal aims to institutionalize tax breaks for domestic educational establishments, in line with Party Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW on education and training development and Resolution No. 21-NQ/TW on financial and land tax policies. The government explained that this measure will contribute to fostering the growth of domestic educational institutions and creating breakthroughs in education and training. The Communist Party of Vietnam regards investment in the education sector as a crucial pillar of economic growth, and the proposed tax incentives are a concrete step to implement this policy. During the Standing Committee session, a proposal for a 30% income tax cut for small enterprises and business households was also approved. This measure is intended to stimulate the domestic economy and support small and medium-sized enterprises, reflecting the government's commitment to strengthening the foundation for economic growth. Vietnam is currently experiencing rapid economic growth, but strengthening investment in the education sector is an urgent priority. Developing a high-quality workforce is essential for Vietnam to maintain its long-term competitiveness as it aims to transition from a manufacturing-centric economy to one driven by services and high-tech industries. The tax incentives are expected to encourage the establishment and operation of private schools and vocational training centers, leading to greater diversification and improved quality of educational services. Furthermore, the National Assembly Standing Committee also discussed frameworks for modern marine governance and draft laws on international agreements. These deliberations demonstrate Vietnam's commitment to advancing its legal system while deepening cooperation with the international community.
