LPA brings rains over Visayas, Mindanao; fair weather in Luzon

A low-pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) is forecast to bring rains to parts of Visayas and Mindanao, while Luzon may experience generally fair weather on Friday, July 31, the state weather bureau said. Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) weather specialist Obet Badrina said during a 5 a.m. weather bulletin that the LPA was spotted 1,000 kilometers east of Mindanao. He said the LPA, along with the southwest monsoon, would bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over the Visayas and Mindanao. Meanwhile, Badrina said the rest of the country, including Metro Manila, would experience fair weather conditions with chances of isolated rain showers. He advised the public to remain vigilant against possible flash floods and rains in low-lying areas. Pagasa said the LPA is not expected to enter the PAR and would likely dissipate or move away from the country.
