Cambodian Lawmaker, Chinese Ambassador Donate School Supplies to Students in Kampong Cham
A Cambodian lawmaker and the Chinese Ambassador have donated school supplies to students at a primary school in Kampong Cham province as part of the Lancang-Mekong Peace Boat initiative, aiming to foster educational development and friendship among youth from Mekong River countries.
AKP Phnom Penh, August 6, 2026 -- H.E. Suos Yara, Chairman of the National Assembly's Commission on Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Information and President of the Cambodian Parliamentary Group of Young Parliamentarians, and H.E. Wang Wenbin, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Cambodia, recently distributed school supplies to students at Hun Sen Sour Kong Primary School in Kampong Cham province. The event was attended by delegates of the second Lancang-Mekong Peace Boat programme. Organised in conjunction with the second Lancang-Mekong Peace Boat initiative, the event aimed to promote education while strengthening friendship, cooperation and people-to-people exchanges among countries along the Mekong River, from the grassroots to the youth level. Addressing the gathering, H.E. Suos Yara encouraged students to study diligently, acquire knowledge and develop into responsible citizens capable of contributing to Cambodia's future development. He also underscored the vital role of peace as the foundation for national development, particularly in the education sector, and commended teachers for their dedication to nurturing the country's human resources. The delegation later presented students with school supplies, including books, pens, pencils, rulers and erasers, donated by participants from Lancang-Mekong countries.
