Nghệ An Province in north-central Vietnam will commence the 2026-2027 academic year at ten elementary and junior high boarding schools located in its border areas. These institutions are expected to enroll over 14,000 students in total. Notably, the boarding school in Anh Sơn district has been selected as the main venue for the provincial opening ceremony. These boarding schools have been established with the aim of improving the educational environment in border regions and enhancing students' academic performance. The 2026-2027 academic year is anticipated to be a turning point for achieving "substantial change and breakthroughs" in education and training. Nghệ An Province is also implementing initiatives to boost educational motivation by recognizing students with excellent academic achievements. Under Vietnam's single-party system, education is prioritized as a foundation for national development. Investment in education for rural and border areas, which tend to be left behind in economic development, is considered essential for overall social stability and reducing disparities. In relation to China, the development and stability of border regions can also influence bilateral relations.
