PRESIDENT Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. on Monday appointed Jose “Brix” S. Pujalte, Jr. to lead the Department of Health (DoH), Malacañang said after Secretary Teodoro J. Herbosa resigned from his post due to health reasons. At a briefing, Palace Press Officer Clarissa A. Castro announced the appointment, saying that Mr. Pujalte brings extensive experience and distinguished leadership as a physician, hospital administrator, educator, and public servant, with more than three decades dedicated to advancing public health. “Upon assuming office at the DoH, Dr. Pujalte, Jr. is expected to lead the agency in continuing President Marcos, Jr.’s initiatives to further strengthen the country’s healthcare system, advance the delivery of quality healthcare services, and promote better health for all,” Ms. Castro said in Filipino.
