Cambodia Awards Degrees to 1,067 Graduates from National University of Battambang, Emphasizing Quality Education

On July 23, 2026, a graduation ceremony was held at the National University of Battambang, where 1,067 students were awarded degrees. The ceremony was presided over by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth and Sport, Hang Chuon Naron. The graduating students included those who earned associate's, bachelor's, and master's degrees, with 691 of them being female. During the occasion, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the importance of learning and human resource development as key factors for national economic development. He recalled Cambodia's history of overcoming war, attributing current development across all sectors to peace and the correct leadership, particularly the strategies put forth by former Prime Minister Hun Sen and current Prime Minister Hun Manet. Deputy Prime Minister Hang Chuon Naron expressed his confidence that the graduating students would utilize their acquired knowledge for their livelihoods and actively contribute to socio-economic development. He encouraged them to pursue further studies and use their knowledge to develop their provinces and the nation, especially in the agricultural sector. Concurrently, he called upon the National University of Battambang to continue strengthening its academic programs and participate in higher education reforms to improve curricula in response to current labor market demands, particularly in agriculture and agro-industry. The Deputy Prime Minister also urged professors and students to utilize technology, including artificial intelligence (AI), to enhance capabilities and train high-quality human resources for the digital era. He concluded by stating that developing human resources with clear knowledge and skills is a crucial key to driving Cambodia's socio-economic progress.
