Ejercito Inspects Major Railway Projects in Metro Manila, JICA and Japan Embassy Representatives Present

Senator JV Ejercito on Thursday inspected the progress of major railway projects in Metro Manila, visiting the North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) Valenzuela Depot and the Metro Manila Subway System project site. He was accompanied by Secretary of Transportation Giovanni Lopez, along with representatives from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Embassy of Japan, as well as project contractors. Ejercito emphasized the crucial role these infrastructure projects play in improving the Philippines' transportation network, expressing optimism about their potential to alleviate urban congestion and stimulate economic growth. The NSCR project aims to establish a commuter railway network connecting Metro Manila with surrounding regions, supported by Japan's Official Development Assistance (ODA). The Metro Manila Subway System, envisioned as the country's first comprehensive subway, is set to become a cornerstone of future urban transportation. The visit underscored the strong cooperation between Japan and the Philippines, particularly in the infrastructure sector, highlighting how close collaboration between the two nations contributes to the Philippines' sustainable development.
