At an international conference in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnamese consumer goods manufacturers discussed strategies for adapting to global market fluctuations and achieving sustainable growth. E-commerce, traceability, and compliance with green standards were key focuses.

On September 3, within the framework of the "Vietnam International Sourcing 2026" event held in Ho Chi Minh City, the Department of Foreign Market Development under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh City Trade and Investment Promotion Center, organized a seminar titled "Vietnamese Consumer Goods: Adapting and Breaking Through in Global Markets." At the event, domestic and international speakers, experts, and business representatives offered multi-dimensional perspectives on the factors impacting the global consumer goods market today. They also recommended numerous solutions related to e-commerce, product traceability, and logistics to optimize supply chains. Mr. Do Quoc Hung, Acting Director of the Department of Foreign Market Development, noted that in the context of rapid and unpredictable global economic and trade fluctuations, businesses are facing changes in trade policies, tariffs, market standards, and the increasingly strong shift of global supply chains. To participate more deeply and sustainably in global value chains, Vietnamese businesses not only need to produce quality consumer goods but also proactively enhance their competitiveness and adjust their production and business plans to promptly meet new market demands. This is especially crucial for increasingly stringent regulations and standards on sustainable development and traceability. Simultaneously, businesses must closely follow consumer needs, preferences, and trends, and effectively exploit new business and distribution methods. From the perspective of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), Mr. Ang Yuit, Chairman of the Singapore SME Association, shared significant difficulties and challenges, as well as opportunities for Singaporean businesses and the region in general amidst global economic instability and increasing trade competition. He particularly highlighted the considerable impact of new US policies and instability in the Middle East. Regarding one of the challenges in the new context, representatives from textile companies such as H&M Group and Faslink Vietnam emphasized that changes in policy regulations, notably the increasing standards for green and sustainable development, pose significant obstacles for businesses, especially in the textile sector. This, in turn, drives new trends and adjustments in global supply chains. Businesses also exchanged views on the risks, limitations, and difficulties faced due to international trade instabilities in recent times. They shared experiences and adaptation strategies, recommending adjustments to production and business models to align with new trends and standards, as well as a direction towards green and sustainable development. This is seen as an inevitable global trend and a mandatory path for businesses to integrate deeply into new value chains. In relation to promoting consumer goods through e-commerce, a representative from Amazon Global Selling highly praised the Vietnamese market for its sales growth from Vietnam and the number of customers from Vietnam. They also shared Amazon's latest policies and directions for the Vietnamese market in the coming period, as well as specific support programs for partners and customers to develop their businesses on a global scale. Through the discussions of experts from various fields and the lively debate among delegates, the seminar achieved positive results, opening a channel for comprehensive, multi-dimensional information exchange and opinion sharing, and supporting the establishment of a partnership network between Vietnamese and international businesses.
