Locals say the regime is using the Rakhine State capital as base to launch attacks targeting civilians in AA-controlled territory. In the outskirts of Sittwe, the military destroyed at least two fishing boats amid intensifying fighting between the military and the Arakan Army (AA) in the region. Residents of Sittwe said the military has set up checkpoints on major roads and bridges in the city, restricting movement. They also reported that the military searched houses in villages on the outskirts of Sittwe and detained several individuals. The military is believed to be intensifying its military activities around Sittwe to suppress the activities of the Arakan Army (AA). However, local residents are complaining that the military's actions are causing immense suffering to civilians.
