The Indian government has officially granted import access for fresh durian from Vietnam (Durio zibethinus), opening a significant new market for Vietnamese agricultural exports. According to the Embassy of India in Hanoi, Indian authorities issued the Fifth Amendment Plant Quarantine Order of 2026 on July 9, 2026, which was published in the Gazette of India on July 13, 2026, and became effective immediately. Notably, Indian authorities have imposed no additional plant quarantine declarations or special import conditions on Vietnamese durian.
