Vietnam's Top Leader to Visit Australia, New Zealand to Deepen Ties

Vietnam's top leader is slated for state visits to Australia and New Zealand, signaling a strategic push to deepen bilateral ties. The engagements are expected to highlight cooperation in key areas, particularly defense and development. Australia is recognized as a crucial development partner for Vietnam. Cooperation between the two nations has consistently focused on delivering practical outcomes that align with Vietnam's national development priorities. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence General Phan Van Giang underscored that Vietnam attaches great importance to its relationship with Australia and views defense cooperation as a fundamental pillar of their bilateral ties. Similarly, Vietnam affirms its high regard for its relationship with New Zealand, welcoming the consistent growth in the robustness, substance, and effectiveness of their bilateral ties. These upcoming visits are interpreted as a move by Vietnam to strategically enhance its connections with major countries amidst a backdrop of complex and rapidly evolving regional and international dynamics. In parallel, Vietnam is actively pursuing cooperation in social sciences and political theory with the Lao National Academy of Politics and Public Administration. This collaboration is anticipated to yield solid scientific evidence and databases that will support the formulation of orientations, policies, and strategies for socio-economic development. On the domestic front, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung emphasized the critical need for every citizen to enhance their digital literacy, strengthen self-protection skills, and practice responsible online behavior. He articulated that the collective efforts of 100 million people would forge the nation's most formidable "digital fortress." Furthermore, Vietnam's defense relationship with India remains a priority, with training cooperation being a key aspect. The Air Force Officers College is actively modernizing its training programs by integrating simulation technology and digital transformation to improve quality. Discussions have also revolved around identifying Vietnam's international cooperation needs in science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation, alongside exploring opportunities and potential priority partners. The role of the diplomatic sector and Vietnamese representative missions abroad in enhancing these efforts has also been a subject of deliberation. Vietnam consistently treasures and promotes its special, loyal, and enduring relations with Laos, viewing the recent elevation of bilateral ties to a "great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation, and strategic cohesion" as the opening of a new chapter. The nation also highlights its comprehensive cooperation with Singapore in politics, economy, trade, investment, education, training, and people-to-people exchanges. Prime Minister Le Minh Hung stated that Vietnam attaches great importance to fostering its Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Malaysia in a stable, sustainable, and long-term manner. Additionally, the 50th founding anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Thailand, following the elevation of bilateral ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, is seen as a significant milestone that will inject fresh momentum into parliamentary cooperation.
