Pateros Schools Suspend In-Person Classes Due to Bomb Threat

Face-to-face classes at two public schools in Pateros, Philippines, were suspended on Monday, July 20, following an alleged bomb threat. In a public advisory posted on its Facebook page at around 5:30 a.m., the local government of Pateros announced the cancellation of in-person classes at Pateros National High School and the nearby Pateros Elementary School. “As a precautionary measure and to ensure everyone’s safety, face-to-face classes are suspended today following the receipt of a security threat (bomb threat) at Pateros National High School (Main Campus),” read the advisory, written in Filipino. READ: Police: No bomb at Mandaluyong High School after alleged threat As an added safety measure, face-to-face classes at the adjacent Pateros Elementary School were also suspended to protect the welfare of students, teachers, and school personnel. “The public is encouraged to remain calm, follow the advisories issued by the appropriate authorities, and refrain from spreading unverified information,” the local government said. Despite the suspension of onsite classes, both schools will shift to online instruction through the Alternative Delivery Mode of Learning, in accordance with the directive of the Department of Education–Schools Division Office of Taguig and Pateros, to ensure that students’ education continues uninterrupted.
