Ex-Police General Azurin Appointed Tourism Undersecretary

Rodolfo Azurin, a retired police general and former chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), has been appointed as the new undersecretary for the Department of Tourism (DOT). The DOT announced his appointment on Sunday, with Azurin taking his oath of office before Tourism Secretary Dita Angara-Mathay. Azurin retired as PNP chief in March 2023. Prior to his retirement from the police force, he also served as a presidential anti-corruption investigator, specifically as a special investigator for the Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC), overseeing investigations into anomalous flood control projects at the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). His move to the Department of Tourism marks a significant shift in his career.
