Vietnam Hosts International Conference on Modern Pharmaceutical Ecosystem Development

On August 8, the University of Health Sciences, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM), in coordination with relevant agencies, organized an international conference on pharmaceutical sciences themed "Vietnam Pharmaceutical Ecosystem - Integration and Sustainable Development." This conference aims to promote the development of a modern pharmaceutical ecosystem in Vietnam. The conference addressed various aspects of the industry, including the potential of Da Nang city to become a driving force for the development of the medicinal plant sector, and the upcoming 34th Vietnam International Exhibition on Pharmaceuticals and Medical Equipment (VIETNAM MEDI-PHARM EXPO). Emphasis was also placed on career guidance and entrepreneurship support for students in traditional medicine and pharmacology, as well as the cultivation of high-quality human resources in these fields. Under its one-party system, Vietnam is pursuing economic growth while prioritizing the modernization of domestic industries and their integration into the global market. The pharmaceutical sector is no exception, facing demands for the adoption of the latest technologies, strengthening of research and development, and the establishment of an ecosystem compliant with international standards. This conference served as a valuable opportunity for academics, industry professionals, and government officials to gather and explore concrete measures to address these challenges. Particularly as relations with China become more complex, Vietnam is seeking to diversify its supply chains and enhance domestic production capacity. Improving self-sufficiency in the pharmaceutical sector is also important from a long-term perspective.
