Philippines Logs Over 128,000 Dengue Cases This Year, DOH Warns of Rising Trend

MANILA, Philippines — Up to 128,634 dengue cases were recorded from January to August, which is 39 percent lower than the number of infections reported during the same period in 2025, according to the Department of Health. DOH data showed the country recorded 209,631 cases of the mosquito-borne disease last year. However, the health department has observed an upward trend in the cases after it recorded 15,673 infections within a two-week period or from Aug. 2 to 15. The number of infections recorded within the two-week period is higher by nine percent than the 14,409 cases recorded during the preceding two weeks or from July 19 to Aug. 1. Those experiencing symptoms of dengue such as fever with rashes, muscle and eye pain, dizziness and vomiting have been advised to seek immediate medical attention. The DOH warned of a spike in dengue cases as the rainy season is an ideal time for mosquitoes to breed.
