PM Hun Manet Denies Rumors of Ministry Mergers, Focuses on Efficiency

Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Hun Manet, has categorically rejected reports circulating on social media suggesting plans to merge or reduce government ministries and state institutions. Speaking on Wednesday during a ceremony to distribute land ownership certificates to residents of 17 villages in Ksach Kandal district, Kandal province, the Premier stated that the Royal Government's existing policy remains unchanged and there are no plans to merge ministries or state institutions. Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet emphasized that the number of ministries and state institutions will not be reduced. Instead, the government intends to strengthen each institution by clearly defining responsibilities and promoting cooperation among ministries and institutions to better serve the people. He explained that some ministries and institutions might reduce the number of departments where certain units are unnecessary or have overlapping responsibilities, with the aim of streamlining structures and improving their effectiveness. The Prime Minister also urged government officials to remain confident and not be concerned about the matter, stressing that the government's policy has already been clearly established.
