Phu Quoc Launches 90-Day Campaign for Strict Land Management

On July 20, Phu Quoc Island (An Giang Province), a popular southern resort destination in Vietnam, launched a 90-day special campaign aimed at strengthening land management and urban order. The Phu Quoc Island People's Committee held an official deployment ceremony to inspect and handle violations in land management, construction order, road safety corridors, marine safety corridors, and urban order. This operation prioritizes the establishment of discipline in land management and the maintenance of urban order on the island. Specific actions include cracking down on illegal constructions, preventing the illegal occupation of public land, and addressing numerous irregularities in land management. Past incidents include the rejection of a personal request for illegal occupation of land in the Dong Ho water area in An Giang Province and reports of land management irregularities in Dong Hoa village. Under Vietnam's single-party communist system, maintaining social order and strengthening law enforcement are consistently crucial issues alongside economic growth. Particularly in rapidly developing resort areas, compliance with land use regulations is directly linked to the sustainability of economic development, leading the government to implement strict management systems. This initiative in Phu Quoc is seen as part of broader efforts across Vietnam to enhance the transparency and fairness of land management. It is believed to aim at fostering trust among domestic and international investors and preserving the island's appeal as a tourist destination in the long term.
