Justice Minister: Forex 3D Case to be Prosecuted This Week, Names of Two Politicians Included

Justice Minister Pol. Gen. Ruttaphon Naowarat announced that the investigation into the Forex 3D Ponzi scheme is nearing completion and is expected to be forwarded to prosecutors this week. The minister indicated that the case is moving towards the indictment stage. Regarding allegations of land and condominium ownership involving a Member of Parliament (MP) from Phuket, Pol. Gen. Ruttaphon stated that the final summons for Mr. Somchart Techathavorncharoen, the MP for Phuket, is scheduled for September 28th. He mentioned that if the MP fails to appear by this date, the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) will proceed with issuing an arrest warrant in accordance with regulations. He further explained that if the MP does not appear, the DSI will file a complaint with the Thung Song Hong Police Station under Section 24 of the Special Investigation Act, which stipulates penalties for individuals who fail to appear when summoned. When questioned about the progress of the Forex 3D case and whether any politicians or artists were named in the investigation file, Pol. Gen. Ruttaphon confirmed that the case file is ready to be sent for prosecution this week. Responding to a follow-up question about the inclusion of Mr. Phawut Pongwitthayapanu, a party-list MP, in the case, the minister briefly responded with "Yes." The Forex 3D case is a significant financial fraud case that has impacted numerous investors in Thailand, and the forwarding of the investigation file to prosecutors is a crucial step towards accountability.
