Thailand Boosts Logistics Hub Ambitions with Upgrades to Ranong and Songkhla Ports

Thailand is embarking on a significant enhancement of its key ports, Ranong and Songkhla, as part of a strategic initiative to solidify its position as a logistics hub in Southeast Asia. Ranong Port is undergoing facility upgrades to accommodate larger vessels. This expansion is expected to substantially increase its capacity for handling international cargo, making it accessible to large container ships and freighters that previously faced limitations. Meanwhile, Songkhla Port is set to install new Ship-to-Shore (STS) cranes. These cranes are crucial for the rapid and efficient loading and unloading of containers between ships and the shore, and their introduction will dramatically improve the port's service capabilities. This enhancement will enable Songkhla Port to handle a greater volume of vessels, thereby alleviating logistical bottlenecks in the southern region.
