India-Myanmar-Thailand Trilateral Highway must be implemented quickly

The Kaladan Project and the India-Myanmar-Thailand Trilateral Highway Project will bring significant benefits to our country and must be implemented as soon as possible, stated Head of State Senior General Min Aung Hlaing. The Head of State made these remarks at the coordination meeting on the India-Myanmar-Thailand Trilateral Highway Project and the Kaladan River Multi-purpose Transit Transport Project held at the meeting hall of the State Administration Council Office in Nay Pyi Taw on July 9. It was stated that our country has five neighboring countries, and there are land and water routes for connectivity. Furthermore, the land and water routes that allow travel to neighboring countries greatly facilitate border area transit and trade. The Head of State also said that if border trade routes with neighboring countries can be systematically implemented, the country's development and the socio-economic lives of the people will improve further. Therefore, during the tenure of our government, priority is being given to upgrading the route projects that connect with neighboring countries, which have existed since before, and they are being re-implemented. These projects were implemented by successive previous governments, but due to various reasons, there have been delays and obstacles, and it is necessary for everyone to work together to implement them as quickly as possible during the period our government is in charge, the Head of State said. Regarding the India-Myanmar-Thailand Trilateral Highway, it was stated that systematic implementation is necessary for traffic rule enforcement as the driving systems are not uniform in each country. The Head of State stated that regarding the Trilateral Highway Project, there are ongoing implementations with the Union fund, as well as collaborations with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
