NBI: No official info yet on Atong Ang's departure from PH

MANILA, Philippines — The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has no official information yet that fugitive businessman Atong Ang, the alleged mastermind in the disappearances of cockfighting enthusiasts (sabungeros), has already left the country. NBI Director Melvin Matibag said this on Thursday when asked about reports that Ang had fled the country amid arrest orders against him over the alleged kidnapping and killing of at least 34 cockfighting enthusiasts between 2021 and 2022. “That is yet to be verified. We have no official information at the moment,” Matibag told reporters in an ambush interview.
